Paul K. MacMillan: President
In 1983, while pursuing an undergraduate degree in business at East Carolina University, Paul MacMillan landed his first consulting project with a company near the college campus. He quickly realized he had a unique ability to see and share needed perspective on how changes in behavior and approach could have a positive impact on leadership and organizational performance. A lifelong pursuit was born. Wanting to understand what makes a business and its leaders successful—and sharing those insights with other leaders—became Paul’s career obsession.
Before starting Pathway Management, Paul was a senior executive with Bank of America and its predecessor banks, and later with Workflow Management, a publicly traded company and consolidator of the commercial printing industry. During his banking career, Paul’s teams managed bank portfolios with asset and liability values in excess of $3 billion. With responsibilities for corporate operations and the mergers and acquisitions team at Workflow Management, Paul gained a unique perspective on the complexities of successfully executing acquisition and exit strategies and integrating company cultures after acquisition.
Throughout his career, Paul has leveraged his leadership and facilitation skills to successfully lead numerous teams and organizations through significant change management efforts and improved organizational effectiveness. He has led the turnaround of underperforming sales organizations as well as numerous cross-functional teams and nationwide pilot programs to develop and implement corporate-wide strategies that increased corporate profitability and improved client satisfaction.
As President of Pathway Management, Paul combines his extensive leadership experience in corporate America and his service on the boards of various organizations with almost 30 years of working with hundreds of the leaders of closely-held and family-owned businesses of all shapes and sizes to design and implement customized solutions that yield sustainable results.
